She was a graduate of Olympus High and graduated from Stevens Heneger Business College in Fashion Merchandising. She had worked at Schubach Jewelery, ZCMI, and Standard Supply. As a result of crippling diabetes she was confined to a wheelchair. However, she was active as an outreach counselor for the Utah State Blind Center and also worked as a volunteer for the Independent Living Center. Although her health deteriorated to the point that she had to be confined to a rest home, she was able to reclaim her independence and be productive and help herself and others.
